6 Strategies to Overcome Procrastination - Dr. J.C. Wheeler
What is procrastination?
Procrastination has caused problems in the lives of goodhearted people for years. It has been the invisible thief which has robbed the momentum of would be great leaders. Napoleon Hill once said, Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday.
[i] Not all habits are bad, but the habit of putting tasks and responsibilities off for another day can be detrimental to your future. I’m almost sure that since you’re reading this eBook procrastination has already affected you in one way or another.
Procrastination has destroyed dreams, stranded visions, and caused businesses to fail. For some, procrastination has been the silent, invisible, and hidden destiny killer. In this eBook I want to examine what procrastination is and give you some tools to break its grip off your life. Say goodbye to procrastination and hello to increased productivity, new ideas, and greater momentum in life.

Firstly, procrastination is putting off, rescheduling, or the suspending of tasks which can be accomplished today. In many ways we all are guilty of procrastination on some level. But a little procrastination can turn into a big problem very quickly. It just seems so easy to tell yourself I will do it tomorrow
and the next thing you know, days turn into weeks, and weeks into months. It’s time to start overcoming procrastination.
Secondly, procrastination can be defined as the practice of placing pleasurable activities ahead of work or productive activities.[ii] How many times have we planned to write a book or take another college course and find ourselves instead watching another TV series on cable or Netflix? There’s nothing wrong with TV or cable but oftentimes pleasurable activities can consume our time while providing few dividends in return. If I had to choose two words to characterize procrastination they would be delay
and postponing.
Those who procrastinate always have a good
reason why the project is being delayed and why it’s not a good time to take that college class.
In this eBook I will use the term project
often in connection with the principles outlined in each section. My use of
