About this ebook

This short story tells volumes about a perfect relationship, a marriage everyone was certain would last a lifetime. It ends as a chilling revelation.

How could she have missed the warning signals? How could love so perfect turn so deadly?

"Opening my eyes was one of the most difficult things I'd ever done. My lids weighed a ton each. I struggled to focus. That's when I realized I was face-down, staring at the floor. I wasn't afraid or even concerned. I was puzzled. I lay motionless in that position, hardly breathing, trying to understand what was happening. As my vision cleared, I saw the tips of black shoes only inches from my fingers."

Sometimes the person we think we know the best is the one we know the least.

Who shares your morning cup of coffee?

Esther Luttrell

Esther Luttrell began her career writing educational films for Ivy League college psychology departments. She later participated in a PhD grant at the UMKC-Columbia as campus filmmaker. When the grant ended, she moved to the west coast where she became executive assistant to the VP of MGM-TV. She also wrote and produced television programs and feature films. A move to Topeka, Kansas in 2003 began a new career as the writer of mystery novels. However, it was her spiritual journey following the death of her son that inspired her to write "Between Heaven & Earth, Proof Beyond Doubt that Life and Love are Eternal". Her latest book of inspiration, "Evidence of God", is intended for those who feels their prayers have gone unanswered or are on the verge of losing faith. She lives in Topeka, Kansas with way too many cats.

    WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

If you love mysteries, and if YOU love suspense, you must read Esther Luttrell’s The Haunting of Leigh Maxwell. - Pam De Voe, Sister-in-Crime

    ***

I loved reading The Haunting of Leigh Maxwell! I had to wait to finish it when my hubby was home because I was alone and got those ‘somebody’s watching me’ prickles along my spine, – Marcia Gitchell

    ***

Esther Luttrell is a gifted writer and story teller. Thoroughly well written, delightful to read and very entertaining. I have already re-read this book three times and have enjoyed it each time. You will not be disappointed in The Haunting of Leigh Maxwell. - Frank Griffin

    ***

The Haunting of Leigh Maxwell will keep you glued to the story page after page. I think part of this is because the character of Leigh is so real. She could be one of your friends or neighbors, someone who unknowingly becomes involved in a suspenseful situation that makes her suspicious of even those closest to her. Leigh fights through her fear, hoping to discover the source of some very strange events. The book kept me frantically cheering for her to the very last page. – Betty Jackson

I just finished reading Murder in the Movies by Esther Luttrell and cannot recommend it highly enough. It has everything a mystery reader is looking for—suspense, action and humor...lots of humor! I giggled all the way through it. Don't miss this one, folks. It's awesome! – Kalie Moore

    ***

Murder in the Movies is a well-plotted and skillfully-paced novel from someone who knows the movie business from the inside. Luttrell, a former Hollywood executive, sets her protagonist in the middle of a murder, and then keeps us guessing right to the last few pages. Her protagonist is easy to like, and much more a real person than most mystery heroes or heroines. Katlin Wallace makes mistakes, gets thumped, bleeds, damages her wardrobe, and still manages to find the evildoer in the nick of time. Satisfying and fun, a good book to curl up with on a rainy day. Recommended. – Marisa Ann Smirl

    ***

Katlin Wallace knows the film business and the highways and delis of the Southern California movie-metroplex. Murder in the Movies is told with such vibrancy and intimacy that I felt like the author plopped me into the passenger seats of Kate's rental cars to experience with her this blur of action and noshing. I can't wait for Kate's next adventure. This is a solid and witty romp of a book. My ultimate compliment to Ms. Luttrell: I wish I had written it. – Paula C. Acconcia

I LOVE LOVE LOVED Invitation to a Murder! The author has such a way with words and phrases...so precise, so clear, so original. What a gift! I want to read more!- Jo A. Hiestand, author of the McLaren Case series

Invitation to a Murder is one book where you don't see the ending coming. Esther keeps you going down a forked road. – Joe C.

I love all of Esther Luttrell's writing. She can spin a story better than anyone. This little book, Yellow, Green, Blue and Dead, is just right—it is quick, fun, and engaging. Like other of Esther's books (Murder in the Movies especially) readers feel like they are living in that very city, even though they may never have even been there. Location becomes an important character in Esther's books—adding depth and suspense to the story. I look forward to more Village of Artists books—what a great idea! - Jobo
