Questions 38 40 are based on the extract from One is One and All Alone. One day, as Trish was learning new words on the VP, she came across the word cloning. The VP explained that cloning is a process by which a living thing can be exactly reproduced. In this process, a scrap of tissue, taken from a living thing, is used as a pattern to create a duplicate of the original living thing. Trish thought that although the idea was very complicated, it was extremely interesting. She remembered that some sheep had been cloned in the previous century. The VP explained that they had taken tiny scrapings from the sheeps skin and created hundreds of identical sheep because they had been constructed from the same original and to the same pattern. Besides sheep, various other animals had also been cloned. The VP then went on to say that cloning was still being done even at present times. In fact, the VP stated, there were sufficient resources available in the Bio Lab to set up a clone laboratory. Trish started thinking seriously about this. 38. The VP was Trishs A. father. B. mother.

C. teacher D. student

39. The word complicated can best be replaced with A. new and exciting. C. difficult to understand. B. easy to understand. D. troublesome and dangerous 40. What did Trish decide to do after this? A.
