FOR IMMEDIATE

PARDON/EXPUNGEMENT WORKSHOP TO BE HELD IN HAMPTON COUNTY A workshop that explains how to obtain a pardon or expungement for criminal convictions will be held at Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Hampton County Recreational Gym, 361 Pine Street Varnville. Representatives from the SC Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services will be there with details on pardons. A representative from the office of 14th Circuit Solicitors office will be there to explain how to obtain an expungement. A pardon clears any legal impediments for a person who wants to obtain certain jobs and professional licenses, and provides other legal advantages in the state. (However, it is not needed to register to vote). An expungement clears the criminal record of convictions obtained in South Carolina. The differences between the two and how to obtain them will be explained at the conference. For more information, contact SCDPPPS Public Information Director Pete OBoyle at poboyle@ppp.state.sc.us or (803) 734-9267 (Cell) (803 667-2214). ###
