How to create simple formulas (add, subtract and average) in Google Spreadsheet Note: Formulas always start with

the equal sign

1. To add to cells together -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Click on cell where you want the total to appear. Type = Then click on the cell where the first number appears Type + Then click on the cell where the second number appears Press ENTER

Sum of C4 (15) and B5 (18)

2. To subtract to cells together --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To subtract two numbers, do the same as #1 above but replace the + with -

Difference of C5 (27) and B5 (B6)

3. To add a group of cells together: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Click on cell where you want the total sum to appear. Type =Sum( Then click and hold on the first cell and drag to the end cell (not all cells have to contain data).

Type ) Press ENTER Sum of numbers in range of cells from B4 through B12

Now when you enter a number in the blank cells you included in the range (the highlighted cells), the sum will update.

4. To average a group of cells --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To average a group of cells together do the same as #3 above but replace sum with average
