Throughout our lives our belongings, our beliefs, our jobs, and our maturity have changed.

Schools have developed from being teacher-centered to branching out and having students being the main focus. Although the methods of teaching and the content have changed, the importance of school has not. Students go to school to learn new information, meet new people, and to find their niche. As a future teacher, I believe that I can positively impact my students cognitively, emotionally, socially, and even physically. I strongly believe the purpose of education is foster the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical qualities of a child. Cognitively, the main emphasis on teaching is for students to gain content knowledge and gain a depth and breadth of knowledge across the curriculum. As an educator it is my role to facilitate and guide students by giving them opportunities to explore knowledge. Teachers can simply lecture, but students gain a stronger understanding through hands-on experiences. As Benjamin Franklin once said "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Children are diverse in the ways that they learn but also in their backgrounds. Experiential learning allows all types of children to make meaning through experiences. According to Gardner there are seven distinct intelligences. I will provide a variety of instruction that caters to my visual-spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, linguistic, and logical-mathematical learners. To help facilitate emotional growth, I will create a community of learners for my classroom. Children should not feel judged by their peers so I will create a safe community environment where children feel free to express themselves. We will create a safe community by having clearly defined expectations that the students and I create together, shared goals, a welcoming and fun classroom. Students will be given opportunities to express themselves and focus on metacognition. Parents also can enhance emotional growth so I will have parental involvement occurring frequently. I believe that school is a place where students gain social skills. I will provide collaborative opportunities to allow my students to get to know each other, while developing their oral skills. Cooperative learning will be facilitated by giving students higher order thinking tasks that are openended and intellectually demanding. I will help my students to discover what strengths their peers have and how they can work together to achieve synergy. Finally, students must have a chance to define their fine motor skills as well as their gross motor skills. I will engage my students in my classroom by having brain breaks and getting them up out of their seats and moving. Children can interact with material in a variety of different ways and games make learning more engaging. School is a place where children should want to come. My classroom will have experiential learning that allows for cooperation and collaboration. My classroom will be a safe environment where children can freely express themselves in a positive way. My classroom will be a place where diversity is welcomed and children can be challenged cognitively, emotionally, socially, and physically. My classroom is a place where I will love to come to work every day because I can help facilitate greatness in each child.
