Topic: Topic: What are integers? Type of Lesson: Investigative Objective(s): SWBAT Understand what an integer is and how the number line applies to real life situations. Engage Pick a definition: 3 integer definitions placed on whiteboard, they are labeled a, b and c students need to write on a piece of paper which they think is correct. Place the paper under your desk. Explore Ask students who picked various definitions to explain why they chose that definition and what they think an integer is. Allow class discussion.

Students allocated time to think about their own fundraiser and what they will need to purchase, how much money they will have, how they will raise the required amount. Students will need to hand in an official budget the following week. Summative assessment Each groups need to come up with 2 questions they would ask on the field trip about fundraising. If the questions are covered in the talk then they simply need to write down the answers.
