Poem of the Day

You will choose a poem and have between 10 to 15 minutes at the beginning of class for a presentation that will respond to the questions: o What is the poem? o Who is the poet? o What is the purpose of the poem? o What makes the poem effective?

You can choose a poem, song, or video to present to the class. You can present your poem and response to the questions through a lecture, power point, or website Your presentation will explain the purpose of the poem: o What is the poem about? o What idea or emotion does the poem communicate? Your presentation will explain the criteria that make the poem effective: o What formal structures (i.e. rhyme) does the poet choose to communicate their ideas or emotions? o What figurative language (i.e. metaphor) does the poet choose to communicate their ideas or emotions?
