Detention Dismissal Procedures Marshall Elementary Mr. Simpson and Mrs.

Freeman

Mrs. Stith, (Assistant Principal) Please review the detention and dismissal procedures below, and then respond as needed.

Procedures for Detention:


1. The Assistant Principal will create a list of targeted students for detention. The AP

will send home letters, collect parent permission letters, and make phone calls. The AP will indicate on the list if the parent has given permission with a Y or N.
2. The Assistant Principal will stop collecting parent permission slips on the Tuesday

before the detention (the day before detention will be served).


3. The AP will email the final detention list to Tricia Freeman and Roy Simpson on

Tuesday so that accommodations can be made in PDF.


4. Tricia Freeman will email the entire Marshall staff the detention list on the

Wednesday morning of detention (the document will be sent out so that changes cannot be made to it).
5. Freeman and Simpson will meet Tuesday afternoon to discuss list and plan

appropriately lessons and discuss logistics.

Dismissal Procedures
On the Wednesdays that afterschool detention is to be conducted, there will be an announcement made over the PA reminding teacher:
1. That afterschool detention will be held 2. To double check the Detention Log, which they would have received Tuesday,

for students who may be in their classes (especially for teacher who are departmentalized).
3. Bring or send those students to the cafeteria after the dismissal bell, where Mr.

Simpson will be waiting for those students.
