INSTRUCTIONS: Answer ANY THREE (3) questions. 1. The crime problems being presently experienced in Trinidad and Tobago relate directly to the strain theory in criminology. Examine the extent of validity in this statement. Explore and explain the various criminological principles of punishment, emphasizing the extent to which each focuses on the offence on the offender as far as sentencing is concerned. To what extent does the social reaction theory in criminology applies to the casual factors for crime in any Caribbean territory. Discuss and critically evaluate the contributions of: (a) Rational Choice Theory (b) Routine Activities Theory, to the study and practice of environmental crime prevention. What is Anomie? How is Mertons definition of anomie different from Durkheims? Discuss any three modes of individual adaptation that according to Merton will lead to higher level of anomic and criminal activity. The Classical Criminology is based on the concepts of deterrence and incapacitation. These concepts have no effective value in crime prevention today. Discuss.
