Brim I used Shannita Williams brims in both Rasta Hat and Cabled Newsboy Cap as inspiration and came up with a version that was suitable for my stitch count. With smaller needles, pick up 20 sts in between removable markers placed in 1st row. Row 1 (WS): Purl. Row 2 (RS): K2, m1r, pm, k16, pm, m1l, k2, pick up 2 sts from cast on edge. (24 sts) Row 3: P to end, picking up 2 sts purlwise at end of row (I turned the hat to the right side so I knew where exactly to place the new sts and picked them up knitwise.) (26 sts) Row 4: K to marker, m1r, sm, k16, sm, m1l, k to end and pick up two sts from cast on edge. (30 sts) Row 5: P to end, picking up 2 sts purlwise at end of row. (32 sts) Repeat rows 4 and 5 until you have 50 sts. Next row (RS): P to end to create a turning row. Row 1 (WS): BO first 2 sts purlwise, p to end. Row 2 (RS): BO first 2 sts knitwise, k to 2 sts before marker, ssk, sm, k16, sm, k2tog, k to end. Repeat last two rows until 20 sts remain. BO. Sew brim opening. If you wish to have a stiffer brim, you can use clear plastic canvas and place inside brim. Weave in all ends and block lightly.
