Professional Development Plan~ Fountaindale 2012-2013 Goals Develop a deep, and applicable, understanding of the Common Core: its

structure, its purpose, its intention, and the vision it provides. Understanding/ Big Ideas Curriculum is derived from standards, therefore, we must know them well! Essential Questions What are the students learning and how do you know? How can assessments promote learning, not simply measure it? How is Fountaindale a place of learning, not a place of doing? Teachers will know The entire CCSS document (standards and appendices) To unpack the standards using verbs, nouns, modifiers for a deeper understanding of what is expected A variety of assessments should be used to inform instruction on a continuous basis The integration of STEM, Math, and ELA Practices is necessary to promote student thinking, student independence, and transfer. The CCSS consist of Content, Process, and Performance Standards The four domains, 22 components, and 76 elements of the Danielson Framework for Teaching The process of obtaining and using feedback (student, self, peer, administrator) Teachers will be able to Develop and revise curriculum that it is logical, sequential, cohesive and essential. Develop assessments that demonstrate what students are learning; collect various data points on students and adjust instruction accordingly
