Another Year Has Gone By

Introduction

How do you listen to love songs? For me, whenever I listen to love songs, I feel
that it is God who is talking to me about his love and cares. If it is truly love
songs, I can sense God’s love and cares to me. However, so many so-called love
songs are not love songs but hate songs. Composers compose with anger, hate, and
revenge. Those songs do not reflect God who loves with the endless love.

Today, I would like to give you a birthday sermon with the love song sung by
Celine Dion, “Another Year Has Gone By.”

Another Year Has Gone By

So many 25th's of December
Just as many 4th of July's
And we're still holding it (a new year, birthday) together
It only comes down to you and I

1. This New Year is not just the New Year for yourself, birthday celebrator but it is
the year between you and God.
2. Psalm 65:11 “You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with
abundance.”

I know you can still remember

Things we said right from the start
When we said that this could be special
I'm keeping those words deep down in my heart

1. From the beginning of His creation of your life in the womb of our mothers, God
has known us.
2. He showed his love through the life of Jesus Christ.
3. Mk 1:11 “You are my beloved child, with you I am well pleased.
Another year has gone by
And I'm still the one by your side
After everything that's gone by
There's still no one saying goodbye
Though another year has gone by

1. God never leaves you but walks by your sight with the Holy Spirit.
2. Isai 49:15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for
the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.”

I never been much for occasions

You never let another birthday go by
Without announcing how much you love me
But the truth was always there
Right there in your eyes

1. The truth about your life is in God’s sight and mind.

2. 2 Cor 5:17 “If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: every old thing
had passed away; see everything has become new.”

And we're still holding hands when we're walking

Acting like we've only just met
But how can that be - when there's so much history
I guess that's how true lovers can get

1. Every new day is God’s new hand and grace for us.
2. When Tamer Lee Owens, celebrated 104 birthday, she credited,
“laughter, the Lord, and little things” for keeping her going.
3. Psalms 15:15 “the cheerful heart has a continual feast.”
Psa. 111:7 The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy.

Another year has gone by
