NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Hursley’s Neighbourhood Watch Scheme was re-launched last Summer following a public meeting.
The meeting showed there was sufficient support for the scheme to be re-invigorated and provided
volunteers willing to act as local street coordinators throughout the village and extending out to the
rural areas of the parish. The NHW is regularly provided with information about incidents happening
in the village and associated police matters. The watch does help to promote vigilance in the
community and so helps to deter would be criminals coming in to the village to commit crime. I am
happy to report that since the re-launch of your neighbourhood watch, police have recorded a 50 %
reduction in dwelling burglary in this reporting period. I would like to express my personal thanks to
those residents who kindly agreed to act as street coordinators throughout the village. May I
particularly thank Mike Eggleton, the Main Coordinator for the watch for his considerable time and
energy in successfully re-establishing Hursley’s neighbourhood watch. I would once again ask for all
residents to support the scheme by displaying the window sticker that was delivered to each household
in the village..
