Class Activity: Id-Ego-Superego Artistic Rendering For this project, you will need to use your creativity and

artistic talents to demonstrate your understanding of Sigmund Freuds structure of the mind (Id-Ego-Superego). A quick refresher the Id is wholly unconscious, impulsive, and child-like (seeking gratification of aggressive and sexual desires), the Superego is both conscious and unconscious, reflecting societys laws, norms, and morals (restraints that directly oppose the desires of the Id), and the Ego mediates these two forces so that we can live in society. Heres what you will need to do 1. Select an object/image/symbol that has numerous (at least 3) individual components to it (e.g., a Big Mac, a carrot, an automobile). The object should be able to reflect your understanding of Freuds structural model of the mind. Please remember that the structural model is the Id-Ego-Superego and the topographical model is the UnconsciousPreconscious-Conscious. The three parts of the object or symbol should represent the respective functions/roles of the Id, the Ego, and the Superego. 2. Draw (as detailed and accurate as possible) and color the symbol you have selected. Prints or images copied from the internet are not acceptable! 3. Label the parts you selected to represent the Id, the Ego, and the Superego. (e.g., the box in which the Big Mac comes might represent the Superego) 4. Provide a clear explanation for why you selected those parts to represent the three components of Freuds structural model (e.g., as the Superegos role is to restrain/limit the Id by providing a moral compass, it could be represented by the Big Mac box because the box has the role of containing and protecting the burger).
