Clock Synchronization Modes

GPS Clock

If an eNodeB is synchronized with the GPS clock, the eNodeB obtains clock synchronization signals from the GPS through the USCU. In this case, both frequency synchronization and time synchronization are applicable

IEEE1588 V2 Clock

IEEE1588 defines the Precision Time Protocol (PTP), which targets precise synchronization of distributed and independent clocks in measurement and control systems, with the precision to microseconds. IEEE1588 V2 supports frequency synchronization and time synchronization

In LTE applications, high-accuracy frequency synchronization and time synchronization can be achieved between clock servers and eNodeBs by IEEE1588 V2 synchronization

Clock Synchronization Modes (Cont.)

Clock over IP

Clock over IP is a Huawei proprietary frequency synchronization technology, which is based on an IP clock server/client architecture. It supports only frequency synchronization

Free Running

The clock enters the free running mode if no reference clock is available after the oscillator is warmed up or if the clock has lost its reference input for a period of time longer than the timer of the holdover mode
