ME 10101 Computing
Introduction to Microcomputers and operating systems. Word-processing. Spreadsheet usage. Presentation
preparation. Programming in Visual BASIC.
ME 10301 Electrotechnology
DC and AC circuit theory. Electromagnetism. Transformers. AC and DC machines. Power generation and
distribution. Electrical safety and circuit protection. Analogue electronics. Digital electronics.
ME 10403 Project
This comprises a major project undertaken in the final year of the course and consists of two parts: Part 1 which
involves planning and preliminary groundwork is included in semester 3. Part 2 comprises the execution and full
completion of the project is carried out in semester 4. The project may be carried out individually or by a group of
two students.
Common Skills
Common skills are developed all the way through the programme units, supervised work experience (SWE),
extra curricula activities (ECA) and relevant experiences outside ITB. Following are the common skills that will be
monitored as part of common skills development:

• Working with and relating to others.
• Communicating.
• Managing tasks and solving problems.
• Applying numeracy.
• Applying Technology.
• Applying design and creativity.
All applicants are required to demonstrate competence in numeracy and literacy through written tests and an
interview administered by the staff of the institute. The applicants having credit in Mathematics at the O-Level
may be exempted from numeracy test. The applicant having credit in O-Level English or a minimum score of 6.0
in IELTS may be exempted from literacy test.
