In the 60s the profession of teacher was very prestigious. It was so demanding.

My mum always wanted to become a teacher but she couldnt do that because the war began. Since I remember myself I always wanted to be a teacher. That is why I decided to become a teacher. I had my favourite teachers in different times. For example, my favourite teachers were Tomara Aleksandrovna, the history teacher Zarianova, our school principal Pavel Lavretivich Demchuk from Chelyabinsk. I still remember my German teacher Roza Barisovna Yarulina. These teachers would not allow forwardness with their pupils. They always kept the definite distance between teacher and student. In general it was a time when the students used always to respect teachers without any distinction. I saw big differences when I moved to Kazakhstan from Chelyabinsk in 70s. Schools in Chelyabinsk were already equipped with multimedia device like a control panel at the teachers table and tinted windows. There was nothing like that in Kyzylorda when I got here. It has been long time since I was last in Chelyabinsk. But I am sure now their schools do not have the things our schools have nowadays because the education system of Kazakhstan is developing in great strides. Our school was one of the best prestigious schools. And only knowledgeable students studied there, but there also children of higher ranked people. I went to ARTEK in 1963 because our group won first place in the oblast. And there were many "cool" children: the daughter of the Magnitogorsk secretary GORKOM PARTY. We believed in justice and the truth at that time and did not notice things like that. Education was free. I should say that many adults who received the Soviet education are grateful for the chance they could get an education if they wished. According to the rule we had secondary schools. But I studied at a school with polytechnic focus. I was a fitter. But I was not a good fitter. The machine was high. And all who studied well were the fitters, then mechanics and joiners. And I remember on Wednesdays we used to go to the real factory and work there. We were responsible for completing the plan. I never completed the plan because I couldn't twirl a cartridge and insert a detail. And one day I forgot to pull out one and the master beat me. After that accident I was afraid to approach the machine. I do not know anyone became a fitter or a mechanic. I think nobody did. People didnt use to get higher education but were labored. I am against on assessing the schools according the amount of students who pass the UNT and who entered higher education institutes. Here is the questions occurs Who will work if we all focus on getting the highest education? Therefore we have no plumbers and there are no cleaners. We should not distinguish educated people from those who not receive higher education.

The Soviet education system had both interrogation of students and explanations by a teacher. It is irresponsible to completely shift the responsibility of getting knowledge to a students shoulder, because it will take a long time for a student to get the needed information in an extremely short time. Maybe ten, eleven students will be able to make something in 60 minutes of a lesson. But it is impossible for forty students to make something in 45 minutes. To make students work by themselves and learn from each other we need to use a differentiated approach because some students know the material very well and some know at a lower level. The most important thing is that a student understands at a lesson. How a student understands depends on the teachers approach. Whether a teacher uses old or new methods, she should make sure her students know what she teaches then. It is certainly necessary to keep up to date. But it is also important not to forget about past experience left behind with firm teaching ways and methods which were always helpful for soviet students. For example, old men, grandmothers and grandfathers can help their grandsons and granddaughters solve algebraic and Russian tasks. I always tell my students Study so that you can then help grandsons study. I remember one article in the 70s where I read about the interrogation of Soviet and American students. And according to this research our students knew all American states, writers, actors, musicians, artists, athletes and even the economy of the United States, while American students knew absolutely nothing about the Soviet Union except that the Soviet Union existed in the world - that there were bears and that there Siberia was there. They completely did not know exactly what Siberia itself was and where it was situated. This example is the obvious indicator of the Soviet education system. Concerning the teachers of our time, teachers really cared for us. And our parents didn't talk about teachers like they do nowadays - maybe teachers are themselves the reason for this. If the word "Teacher" was mentioned it meant the task should be completed. But today students complete tasks from only those teachers whom they love and respect. Children present the attitude of their parents. I witnessed this when a mother lead a child by the hand, kicked the door open and shouted "Where is that teacher? What is that?! She came to school; she shows an example of the attitude towards teachers. I cant imagine how this mother behaves in other places if she allows herself to behave like this at school. I was lucky that I worked with a group of colleagues where first I was a teacher and then vice principal of studies. Moral atmosphere at a school entirely depends on the administration. If the administration understands the teachers, if it meets its teachers needs, then the teachers will all do their best. One kind word addressed to a teacher can inspire great feats.

Now we have business relations. We are building a capitalist society. We want to enter into the list of the best, competitive states. And here it is necessary to remember our HUMAN BEINGS. It seems to me, it is necessary to not do what we did then. It is better to focus pupils in one direction of studies after 9th grade. I was good at humanities and thought I dont need to spend time on math and physics". Perhaps, it is better to do target training after 8th -9th grades. And until 8th -9th grades it is necessary to provide stable and strong general education. My credo is "The teacher has to know the subject that teaches perfectly and know how to present it", the second "The teacher has to love and forgive children, whatever happens because sometimes children are cruel. And To dress and look pleasantly for her students. The trust of students should be gained. When I have lessons especially literature lessons in the senior classes sometimes it is possible to set it aside. Also it is necessary to behave and speak so that pupils believed you. For example I have never asked my students to share and trust me. But I do not know why my students used to tell me everything that they would not tell their parents. They even told me about their first time and when it happened. I had a course "Ethics of the Standard of Speech" and we spoke about everything in that course. I havent told anybody about those conversations. I could say that "Yes there is someone who began his sexual life at 13 years but I wont tell who did it". It is a secret between the child and me. An educated person and an intelligent person are different words, though it seems the intelligent person is engaged in such work. An education is when people get anykind of knowledge. But to become an educated and intelligent person it is necessary to have values. And here values can make even uneducated person knowledgeable, deeply intelligent person with a rich inner world. As we teachers always tell students, "An inner world is better than external beauty".
