VORSICHT

Stelle heraus, siehe Bauformen (Seite 53).

Folgezeit in entsprechend kurzen Intervallen kontrollieren.

Anschlusskasten befindlichen Schaltbild vornehmen.
Umgebungstemperatur, Verlegungsart usw. gem DIN VDE 0298 bzw. EN 60204-1).

Der Anschluss von Temperatursensor/Stillstandsheizung erfolgt im Anschlusskasten.
4.5.1.2 Klemmenbezeichnungen
prinzipielle Definitionen:
Tabelle 4-5 Klemmenbezeichnungen am Beispiel 1U1-1
1 U 1 - 1 Bezeichnung
x Kennziffer fr Polzuordnung bei polumschaltbaren Maschinen
(soweit zutreffend, niedere Ziffer entspricht niederer Drehzahl)
oder im Sonderfall fr unterteilte Wicklung
x Phasenbezeichnung (U, V, W)
x Kennziffer fr Wicklungsanfang (1)
Kennziffer fr Wicklungsende (2)

L1, L2, L3 an V, U, W).
etwa gleiche Klemmhhen entstehen.

4.2.2 Checking the oil level

CAUTION
The volume of gear oils changes with temperature.
If the temperature rises, the volume increases. Where temperature differences and filling
quantities are significant, the increase can amount to several liters.
The oil level must, therefore, be checked while still slightly warm, approximately 30
minutes after switching off the drive.

4.2.5 Changing the oil

CAUTION
An impermissible mixture of oils will lead to clouding, depositing, foam formation, changes
to the viscosity or reduced protection against corrosion and wear.
When changing oil of the same type, the residual volume of oil in the gearbox should be
kept as low as possible. Generally speaking, a small residual volume will cause no
particular problems.
Gear oils of different types and by different manufacturers must not be mixed. If necessary,
have the manufacturer confirm that the new oil is compatible with the remaining volume of
used oil.
If changing very different types of oil or oils with very different additives, always flush out
the gearbox with the new oil. When changing from mineral oil to polyglycol oil (PG) or vice
versa, it is vital to flush the gearbox twice. All traces of old oil must be completely removed
from the gearbox.

CAUTION
Gear oils must never be mixed with other substances. Do not flush with paraffin or other
solvents, as traces of these substances will always be left behind inside the gearbox.

Note
The oil must be warm. If it is too cold, it will flow too sluggishly to drain properly. If necessary,
run the gearbox for 15 to 30 minutes to warm it up.

Draining oil
1. Switch off the power supply to the drive.
2. Unscrew the sealing element at the point marked with this symbol, see Assembly

Flushing the gearbox when changing between incompatible oils
CAUTION
Polyglycol oil has a higher density than mineral oil. Therefore, it sinks down towards the oil
drain and the mineral oil floats on top.
This makes the complete draining of mineral oil from the gearbox (a necessary process)
extremely difficult.

Note
We recommend that, after the second flush, the quality of the rinse is checked by an expert
analyzer.

1. After the oil has been drained, wipe the gearbox clean of any remaining mineral oil using
a cloth.
2. Unscrew the sealing element at the point marked with this symbol, see
Assembly options (Page 51)
3. Fill the gearbox with a detergent oil, using a filter (filter mesh max. 25 m). For the
detergent oil, use either the new oil or one that is compatible with the new oil.
4. Allow the gearbox to run for 15 to 30 minutes under a low load.
5. Place a suitable and large enough receptacle underneath the sealing element at the
position marked with this symbol, see Assembly options (Page 51)
6. Unscrew the sealing element at the point marked with this symbol, see Assembly
options (Page 51), and drain all the oil into the receptacle.
7. Seal the gearbox using the sealing elements.
8. Repeat this step for the second rinse.
Once you have flushed the gearbox twice, you can pour in the new oil.

The lubricants suitable for use in the gear train are listed in the table titled "Oils" and the
table titled "Rolling-contact bearing greases". We are familiar with the composition of these
lubricants and, as far as we are currently aware, they possess state-of-the-art properties with
regard to load-bearing capacity, corrosion resistance (FZG test DIN 51354 = force level
> 12), resistance to gray staining and compatibility with seals and interior paint finishes as
necessary for the type of gearbox concerned. Therefore, we advise our customers to select
one of the lubricants listed in this table, taking into account the VG class specified on the
rating plate.
If by agreement gearboxes are filled at the factory with special lubricants for the special
applications referred to above, this is shown on the rating plate, e.g.: CLP-H1 VG220 or
CLP E VG220.
The warranty conditions are valid only for the lubricants listed in these operating instructions

In the case of gearboxes which require case ventilation, the necessary ventilation filter or
pressure relief valve without securing clip is delivered separately. They must be fitted in
place of the appropriate screw plug before starting up the gearbox.
1. Unscrew the sealing element at the point marked with this symbol, see Assembly

4.4 Checking the insulation resistance

DANGER
All covers which are designed to prevent rotating parts from being touched, or which are
necessary to ensure effective cooling, must be installed prior to commissioning.

DANGER
During the measurement, and immediately afterwards, hazardous voltage levels are
applied on some of the terminals and they should not be touched.

CAUTION
The insulation resistance needs to be checked prior to start-up and again after any
extended periods of storage or periods during which the equipment is not in operation.
Before you begin measuring, please read the manual for the insulation resistance meter
you are going to use. Disconnect any main circuit cables already connected from the
terminals before measuring the insulation resistance.

Where possible, measure the minimum insulation resistance of the winding to the motor
enclosure when the winding temperature is between +20 C and +30 C. For other
temperatures, different values apply to the insulation resistance. When taking the
measurement, you must wait until the final resistance value is reached (approximately 1
minute).
Commissioning
4.4 Checking the insulation resistance
BA 2110
Commissioning and Hardware Installation Manual, 12/2007 33

NOTICE
If the critical insulation resistance is less than or equal to this value, the windings must be
dried or, if the fan is removed, cleaned thoroughly and dried.
Note that the insulation resistance of dried, clean windings is lower than that of warm
windings. The insulation resistance can only be properly assessed after conversion to the
reference temperature of +25 C.

NOTICE
If the measured value is close to the critical value, you must subsequently check the
insulation resistance at appropriately frequent intervals.

The following table indicates the measuring circuit voltage together with the minimum
insulation resistance and the critical insulation resistance.
Table 4-4 Insulation resistance
Rated voltage UN < 2 kV
Measuring circuit voltage 500 V
Minimum insulation resistance with new, cleaned
or repaired windings
10 M
Critical specific insulation resistance after a long
operating time
0.5 M/kV
(values apply at a winding temperature of +25 C)
Also note the following points:
When measuring at winding temperatures other than +25 C, the measured value must
be converted to the reference temperature of +25 C. The insulation resistance is
reduced by a factor of a half for every 10 K increase in temperature, and it is increased by
a factor of two for every 10 K decrease in temperature.
New, dry windings have an insulation resistance of between 100 and 2,000 M, or even
higher values in some cases. If the insulation resistance is close to or below the minimum
value, the cause could be humidity and/or dirt accumulation. The windings must then be
dried.
During operation, the insulation resistance of the windings can fall to the critical insulation
resistance due to ambient and operational influences. Depending on the rated voltage,
the critical insulation resistance for a +25 C winding temperature can be calculated by
multiplying the rated voltage (kV) by the specific critical resistance value (0.5 M/kV); e.g.
critical resistance for a rated voltage (UN) 690 V:
690 V x 0.5 M/kV = 0.345 M

4.5.1 Connecting the motor

DANGER
Any work on the stationary machine must be performed with the machine isolated from the
supply and secured so that it cannot be switched back on again. This also applies to
auxiliary circuits (e.g. anti-condensation heater). Check for safe isolation from supply!
If the incoming power supply system displays any deviations from the rated values in terms
of voltage, frequency, curve form or symmetry, such deviations will magnify the increase in
temperature and influence electromagnetic compatibility.
Before starting work, make sure that a protective conductor is securely connected.

Note the information in EN 60034-1 (VDE 0530-1) for operating at the limits of the A ranges
(5% voltage of 2% frequency deviation) and B ranges. Under no circumstances may these
limits be exceeded.
The connection must be made in such a way that a permanently safe electrical connection is
guaranteed (no protruding wire ends). Use assigned cable end equipment (e.g. cable lugs,
ferrules).
Connect the supply voltage and arrange the jumpers according to the circuit diagram in the
terminal box.
Select the connecting cables in accordance with DIN VDE 0100 and in accordance with the
rated current and the installation-specific conditions (e.g. ambient temperature, routing
method, etc. according to DIN VDE 0298 or EN 60204-1).
The necessary connection data regarding
the direction of rotation,
the number and arrangement of the terminal boxes,
the circuit and connection of the machine winding,
are defined in the "Technical specifications".

4.5.1.1 Terminal box

CAUTION
It must be ensured that the terminal box, terminal board and cable connections, etc. inside
the terminal box are not damaged.

CAUTION
It must be ensured that there are no foreign bodies, dirt or moisture in the terminal box.
Entries in the terminal box (see DIN 42925) and other open entries are to be sealed with an
O ring or a suitable flat gasket so that dust and water cannot enter, whereas the terminal
box itself is to be sealed against dust and water with the original seal.
Observe the correct tightening torque for cable glands and other screws.
Secure the featherkey for a test run without drive elements.

NOTICE
The terminal box must be sealed so that dust and water cannot enter.

Note
The terminal box can be turned 4x90 degrees on the terminal base of the machine's housing
in the case of a terminal board with 6 terminal studs (standard design).

The temperature sensor / anti-condensation heater is connected in the terminal box.
4.5.1.2 Terminal designations
The following principal definitions apply to three-phase machines with terminal names
according to EN 60034-8:
Table 4-5 Terminal names in example 1U1-1
1 U 1 - 1 Designation
x Index showing the pole assignment for pole-changing machines
(where applicable, a lower number indicates a lower speed)
or, in special cases, for a subdivided winding
x Phase name (U, V, W)
x Index showing winding start (1)
index showing winding end (2)
or other indexes if there is more than one connection per winding.
x Additional index for cases in which it is obligatory to connect parallel power
feed cables to several terminals with otherwise identical designations

4.5.1.3 Direction of rotation
The standard motors are suitable for clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation.
Connection of the power cables in the phase sequence L1, L2, L3 to U, V, W results in
clockwise rotation (looking at the D-side shaft end on the drive side). If two connections are
interchanged, this results in counterclockwise rotation (e.g. L1, L2, L3 to V, U, W).
In the case of geared motors intended for only one direction of rotation, the prescribed
direction of rotation is marked by a direction arrow on the geared motor.
4.5.1.4 Connection with/without cable lugs
In the case of terminals with terminal clips, the conductors are spread out in such a way that
the terminating heights on both sides of the web are about the same. This method of
connection requires that a single conductor be bent into a U shape or connected with a cable
lug. The same applies to the inner and outer terminals of the ground conductor
The choice of cable lug size must match the required conductor cross-section and the bolt
size. A skewed arrangement is only permissible when the required air gaps and creepage
distances are adhered to.
Strip the insulation from conductor ends in such a way that the remaining insulation almost
reaches the cable lug.

Note
The direct contact between the cable lug surfaces and the contact nuts ensure that the
connection can carry current.

4.5.1.6 Tightening torques

CAUTION
It must be ensured that there are no foreign bodies, dirt or moisture in the terminal box.
Cable glands in the terminal box (see DIN 42925) and other open entries with dummy plugs
are to be sealed with an O ring or a suitable flat gasket so that dust and water cannot enter,
while the terminal box itself is to be sealed against dust and water with the original seal.
Observe the correct tightening torque for cable glands and other screws.

4.6 Servicing the brake
BA 2110
42 Commissioning and Hardware Installation Manual, 12/2007
4.6 Servicing the brake
When using as a holding brake, there will be no wear to the friction lining.
Using as a service brake will result in wear to the friction lining. The "SL" air gap must be
monitored regularly. When the max. "SLmax" air gap is reached (or preferably before), the
brake must be readjusted to the "SLNenn" rated air gap.

CAUTION
When recommissioning the motor, check that the brake is functioning correctly.

Note
After servicing and before commissioning, check the evenness of the rated air gap in a
current-free state using a feeler gauge between the anchor plate and the magnet part on 3
different sections of the unit.

Setting the air gap
Note
Do not allow oil or grease to come into contact with friction surfaces.

Procedure
1. Remove the fan cover.
2. Slacken the mounting screws.
3. Screw the sleeve screws into the magnet part using an open-ended spanner.
4. Retighten the mounting screws.
5. Check the air gap and correct it if necessary - see table entitled "Brake data".
6. When combining with manual release:
Check the setting dimension "s" according to the table entitled "Tightening torque for
brake screws, setting dimension "s" for manual release lever" and readjust to "s" if
necessary.

For corrosion-resistant brakes with a chrome-plated anchor plate, brake screws made from
stainless steel are used in line with DIN ISO 3506. In this case, reduce the tightening torque
by 10%.
Replacing the friction lining
Replace the rotor when the friction lining has been completely worn down. For minimum
rotor strength see table entitled "Brake data".
Procedure
1. Remove the fan cowl.
2. Remove the fan locking ring and pull out the fan.
When combined with manual release:
Unscrew the actuating lever for manual release.
With forced ventilation:
Remove the fan cowl with forced ventilation.

6.1 General technical data
The most important technical data appears on the rating plate of the gearboxes or geared
motors.
This data, together with the contractual agreements for the drives, determine the limits of
intended use.
In the case of geared motors, a rating plate attached to the motor usually indicates the data
for the entire drive.
In certain cases separate rating plates are attached to the gearbox and the motor.
