The .300 is the biggest of the big when it comes to deer

hunting. This rifle is perfect for those shots through thick
cover where smaller calibers would be deflected and
become harmless to game animals. It is also Plenty
enough power for big game like elk.
This model sports fluting. Fluting can be good or bad
depending on how you look at it. Some advantages are
The barrel cool/heats faster. It also supposedly creates
more consistent muzzle flip, but this can be just a crazy
assumption. It also makes the rifle lighter which can be
good or bad. Fluting a barrel can create unrecoverable
stresses that will encourage warping when heated and
can also swell the bore dimensions, causing loose spots in
the bore. A solid (un-fluted) barrel is more rigid than a
fluted barrel of equal diameter. A fluted barrel is more
rigid than a solid barrel of equal weight. All rifle barrels
flex when fired. Accuracy requires that they simply flex
the same and return the same each time they are fired,
hence the requirement for a pillar bedded action and free
floating barrel. Over a long period of time and shooting
the barrel will loose all accuracy and may blow up. This is
why fluting is still being disputed of worth it or not.
This gun is known for its long range capabilities, and
knockdown power. It is a bit heavier than the .243 and
.270 but not by much.
