Rangel, Asaph ESLR: Lifelong Learner Artifact #1 Improving Skills My essay for Mexican-American studies was started and

finished under rough and pressured circumstances. It was completed under these circumstances due to the procrastination that continues to haunt me to this day. This essay was part of a mandatory assignment that also demanded a powerpoint presentation along with notes, but fortunately the presentations were done in groups. This essay is significant to me because it was the first essay that I wrote under horrible circumstances while being at home, and not at school where it would have usually been either a timed essay or an activity in class. It also shows my writing skills from the past which could be compared with my writing skills now. This represents my best learning experience because it taught me how important it is to not procrastinate, even though I continued to do it. In addition, it also showed me how badly written an essay would look like if it was rushed and left to the very last second. This horrible piece of writing reveals that my writing abilities increase each year due to my exposure to new knowledge and new concepts. This essay also shows, when comparing my past and present writing capabilities, that it is possible for me to improve in other subjects. I believe that this will leave people surprised at how horrible my writing skills were in the past. This essay demonstrates my lifelong learner achievement, because it displays the writing skills of my past that have improved to the present. This means that I continue to learn, and will continue to learn throughout my entire life, in order for improvements on my writing skills to be made. This work justifies the lifelong learner ESLR with its many grammatical mistakes and unnecessary use of words, in comparison to the improvement of my recent written pieces. To elaborate, it shows that I have learned how to use correct grammar and how to use words

correctly. I had very little skills, but at the time that this was written, it was my very best. I faced frustration so many times that it rivals the number of stars in the galaxies whenever I was dissatisfied with a sentence or phrase. This essay has great significance to my academic development because, as previously stated many times, it showcases my skills from the past so a comparison could be made between my past and present writing skills. However, it also has a personal significance to me because it reminds me of the struggles I faced when I wrote this essay. Moreover, there are other essays that I have written that were written in similar style, although, this specific essay is special. This essay is also relevant to my future because it shows me that improvement is possible. I plan to apply what I have learned from my essay to my future projects by reminding myself of the catastrophic effects that are incurred by procrastination.
