VITALITY, COURAGE, SENSITIVITY, INTELLIGENCE, COMPASSION

Incredible Me
Ms. Nadine
Our first unit of inquiry is underway in the art
room. Students are engaged in an inquiry
into the nature of the self, human
relationships including family, friends,
communities and cultures, and the ways in
which we express and reflect upon our beliefs
and values. The Lower School students are
exploring and expressing these ideas through
the following themes:

Pre/Kindergarten: My Super Self

Incredible ME! Students will explore their

identity through drawing, painting, collage
and sculpture with projects emphasizing an
understanding of line, shape and color. Final
projects include: designing and creating a
superhero costumes (Pre-K) and creating life
size cut out sculptures (Kindergarten).

Grades 1 and 2: Exploring

Identity through African Art

Our grade 1s and 2s will be learning about

their incredible selves through an exploration
of culture. Connecting to their Music inquiry
into African folk music, students will discover
the powerful artistic conventions of African
culture and express their own concept of self.
Projects include painting, drawing, collage
and mask making.
