INTRODUCTION

Introduce the lesson, and assign which student will start at each station. After the students are at the stations, explain how long they will be at each station and how to complete each station.

ACTIVITY

Students will be broken into two groups of three. The first group will work with Ms. Lucas to learn a new content area, while the other group of three will at three other stations. Three of the four stations will be individual work, and student will have seven minutes at each station. Once the first group of three have made it through all three stations they will switch places with the other group. All stations will use cards to alert the instructor when they need help working through a problem. Station one will be converting measurement. I will help students measure various items. They will record the measurement in either inches or feet. Then students will

TEACHER GUIDE convert their measurement to either inches or feet. For example, if their measure the room in feet they must convert it to inches. I will work with 2 or 3 students at a time. At station two students will work through a worksheet where they will convert decimals to percents or percents to decimals. Station three will work with place values. On several sheets paper there will be ghosts labeled with either tenths, hundredths, thousandths, ten-thousands, hundred-thousands, or millionths. Ghost cut-offs will have decimal numbers with one number underlined. One student must match the cuts-off with the names of the numbers place value. After students match the cut-off with the place value students will record their answers on the worksheet. Station four will be a Halloween word problem worksheet that one student must complete. The word problem focus on decimals and prices. One student will have this station differentiated and giving a coloring sheet. On the sheet he will have to solve math fact questions. The answer of the questions will tell him which color to color that area. Any questions students do not answer at station two or four will be homework along with multiplication facts.
SUMMARY

Students will work to complete four stations. They will move between the stations every seven minutes. One station will be introducing a new content area which is converting measurements. The other three stations will be review of converting decimals to percents and percents to decimals, word problems, and place values. The converting measurement station will be completed with the instructor, while the others are individual work.
