Menmaatre Seti was the son of Ramesses l and Queen Sitre, and the father of Ramesses ll.

Seti reigned for 1115 years. It was noted that Seti l personally opened new rock quarries at Aswan to build Obeslisks and colossal statues in th his 9 year of ruling. The greatest achievement of Seti ls foreign policy was the capture of the Syrian town Kadesh and neighbouring territory of Amuru from the Hittite Empire. A funerary temple for Seti was constructed in what is now known as Qurna, on the west Bank of the Nile at Thebes while a temple made of white marble at Abydos featuring relief scenes started by Seti but finished by his son. Seti also defeated Libyan Tribesmen who had invaded Egypts western border.
