Football Unit Plan 4th-5th Grade Day 1 o Focus: Passing, Catching, Rules, Positions, and Terminology o Objectives: TSWBAT

T explain the cues/steps of throwing and catching at the end of the class period on the exit slip through writing, explaining aurally, or drawing them. o NASPE Standard: Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities. Standard 5: Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings. o Warm Up: (5 min) 10 pushups, 10 sit ups, 2 laps o Review: Rules, Positions, Terminology, Catching and Passing Cues (10 min) o Activity 1: Stations (10 min each station 2 1/2 min rotate on stopping of music) Throwing Accuracy Throwing for power Catching Under Pressure Activity o Activity 2: 4 Zone Football (15 min) o Closure: Review of Key points (5min) Assessment: Exit Slip What are the basic cues/steps of throwing and catching a football? Day 2 o Focus: Passing Patterns, Defense, and Flag Pulling o Objectives: TSWBAT identify what one of the 2 passing patterns that is drawn on the board. o NASPE Standard: Standard 2: Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities. Standard 5: Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings. o Warm Up/Review: Catching and Passing Review (5min) Activity: Catch 21 o Activity 1: New Content (10 min) Passing Patterns Down and in, down and out, hook, slant, go/fly Defending a Receiver Cues: on page 186 o Activity 2: Stations (10min 3min at each station change on stopping of the music)

Day 3 o Focus: Review of Passing, Catching, Passing Patterns, Defense, and Flag Pulling o Objectives: TSWBAT identify the cues of catching, passing, and defense on the worksheet given during the review section with a partner of their choice. o NASPE Standard: Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
