Gonzalez RE: National Human Genome Research Institute The National Human Genome Research Institute exists since the year 1998 as a division of National Institute of Health. The main goal for its creation was to overview the Human Genome Project (HGP), the project in charge of mapping the entire human genome. This project was completed in 2000 with a main draft and a complete map in 2003. This impacted the entire world and is still considered the biggest scientific research made globally. This agency, as one of the founders of the project opened many doors to further research towards the human genetics. The NHGRI communicates in a board way mostly across the World Wide Web, and it is not restricted to the main webpage. This agency has the flexibility to engage those interested on it via popular media like facebook, twitter, and youtube. This proves as a large help, especially for newcomers who arent familiarized with the topic the webpage is based upon. Never the less it also offers it its main webpage content for specific audience. Specifically, students, educators, patients, Health professionals, grant applicants, and news media. While the students and educations sections are pretey similar , the patient section widely offer guidance and an introduction to treatments using gene therapy, to clinical trials. In the news section contact information is given to those interested in in contact the main news agencies. There is also a specialized section, exclusively for those looking for founds for their researches and the guidelines each has to cover. The access to this information in an easy way provides the visitors the freedom to navigate in the format they are more comfortable with. However being a government page it cannot restrict itself only to the web, thus information about this agency is also available at conferences and events. This, of course is placed under the Newsroom tab of the main page, of course, not all the events are open to the general public, and yet it is announced in the main webpage to keep the patrons interested. This agency, while is targeted more to an academic, and professional communities, it offers the option to be reachable to personal, and civic communities that might have a question regarding the organization. Yet no agency is perfect and one of the downsides of this organization is that the backbone of it, this is, they main webpage is not updated or revised in a least a six month period. This can be very contra productive, especially in a scientific changing world. In conclusion, this agency should be relevant for everyone in the community because this agency offers a huge window to genetics in humans. Also being a government organization it ensures accessibility and accuracy for the information in contrast to many pages of the private sector.
