Hospitality Workplace Safety Poster

D1. Students will recognize and follow safe practices and procedures when using materials, tools and equipment. (The Ontario Curriculum, Grades 9 and 10, Technological Education, Revised 2009) Requirement: Using the safety information gathered through class discussion and seatwork, students will choose a variety of safety rules or hazards they are familiar with in the commercial kitchen. It will be their task to design a safety poster, power point, prezi or comic strip for use in the Hospitality industry. 1) Students will be given one period of class time to work on their poster. 2) Students have the option of completing this assignment manually or by using a computer; however computers will not be made available during class time for this assignment. If you choose to use graphics from the internet, you must cite where you found them on the back of your poster. 3) Regardless of the medium you choose, all posters must be complete with graphics. Pay particular attention to ensuring that your safety rules are clearly visible. 4) All of a students talents and skills should be applied to their work using the course theory: Language skills, drawing skills, knowledge of safety in the Hospitality industry. The final mark of this assignment will be determined by considering the students effort, dedication and proper use of the time and resources available to him/her.

Level Two 60-69% Student selected satisfactory safety rules or hazards (2) as discussed to expand upon Level Three 70-79% Student selected an appropriate safety rules or hazards (3-4) as discussed in class Level Four 80-100% Student independently selected and expanded upon several safety hazards or rules (4 or more) in the industry A variety (4 or more) appropriate graphics were included on the poster, including detailed references. Professional and creative effort placed in the poster and would be posted/used in the workplace.
