Rx: Oh My, Baby!

Booties Crochet Version


Difficulty: Medium Use with: Rowan All Season
Cotton. 1 ball will make a few pairs. (Note: Any worsted weight yarn will work for this pattern. We suggest cotton or super wash wool.)

You Will Need:

Crochet Hook
Size F

Darning Needle

Directions: As written, this makes booties in a 3-6 months size. You can make larger sizes by
using a hook that is one or two sizes larger. Ch 31 Work in front loops only from this point on. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn. Row 2: Sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn. Repeat row 2 six more times. Short Row Shaping: Row 9: Sc in next 20 sc. Ch 1, turn. Row 10: Sc in next 10 sc. Ch 1, turn. Rows 11-16: Repeat row 10. Row 17: Sc in next 10 sc, 10 sc down the side of the short rows, sc in next 10 sc. Ch 1, turn. Row 18: Sc in next 30 sc, 10 sc down the side of the short rows, sc in next 10 sc. Ch 1, turn. Rx: Oh My, Baby! Booties Crochet Version

Row 19: Sl st in next 50 sc. Ch 1, turn. Row 20: Sc in next 50 sl st. Ch 1, turn. Row 21: Repeat row 19. Decreasing for Toe: Row 22: Sc in next 2 sl st, sc 2 sl st tog, sc in next 20 sl st, sc 2 sl st tog, sc in next 20 sl st, sc 2 sl st tog, sc in next 2 sl st. Ch 1, turn. Row 23: Sl st in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Row 24: Sc in next 2 sl st, sc 2 sl st tog, sc in next 18 sl st, sc 3 sl st tog, sc in next 18 sl st, sc 2 sl st tog, sc in next 2 sc. Fasten off, leaving a tail several inches long for seaming the bottom and back of the bootie. Thread the yarn tail onto the tapestry needle and seam up the bottom and back of the slipper. Repeat for second bootie.

Tip: You can embellish these as much or as little as you like. For practical booties, leave plain. For fancy booties or keepsake booties, you can embroider, sew on flowers or ribbon, or crust the bottom of the bootie with small beads to create a hard sole.
