My philosophy of education is guided by a saying from my grandfather, Education begins in the crib and it ends in the grave.

I believe that education can be acquired in various ways throughout life. As a classroom teacher I have a responsibility to add to my knowledge of pedagogy, content, and human development among other things. My duty is vital to the future of my communitys social and economic health. Therefore, my actions in the classroom are intentional to the end that all students succeed in all areas with the consideration that a classroom is a microcosm of the real world and that it will prepare students for adult life. The teaching career is rewarding and it is an opportunity to make a difference in the world. I genuinely care that children succeed academically and personally; they must develop hard and soft skills. In addition, I believe that parent involvement is paramount in the academic and personal success of a student. In the cases where parental involvement is lacking, my role as a teacher becomes ever more important. As a role model I must be aware of how I interact with others, including my colleagues. I treat everybody with respect and appreciate the work they do. As a teacher I know how to collaborate with others and I am willing to share and receive ideas that are for the benefit of the students. It is important that I know the curriculum I will teach, but more importantly, I need to make it engaging regardless of my initial attitude. I show excitement for all content areas because I am aware that student perception of my feelings towards a topic influences their attitudes towards a subject, which in turn affect their performance. Instructional methodologies should cater to all students. Instruction should be differentiated to meet all abilities, learning styles, and cultures. Assessments should be varied to allow all students to show mastery. Lessons should stray from rote memorization and aim towards higher-level thinking. The greatest lesson plans are useless with the absence of an environment that is conducive to learning. Proper classroom management permits a good learning atmosphere. First, the physical environment is adequate. Second,students feel safe to learn from each other and are active membersin their classroom. They care about each others learning. Lastly, I need to be well prepared and organized. I am aware that my philosophy will constantly evolve with experience and the gain of new knowledge. I believe that I must be mentally strong and stay passionate about learning and teaching. This will allow the effectiveness of my teaching to consistently improve.
