Lot-Size Calculation

Purpose
The lot-size calculation is carried out in MRP. In the net requirements calculation, the system determines material shortages for each requirement date. These shortage quanities must be covered by receipt elements. The system then calculates the quantities required for the receipts in the planning run in the procurement quantity calculation.

Prerequisites
ou must define the appropriate lot-sizing procedure in !ustomizing for MRP in the "or#step Checking the Lot-sizing Procedure. ou assign the appropriate lot-sizing procedure to the material in the material master record $MRP vie" %& and, if necessary, you must specify additional restrictions. Minimum lot size $minimum procurement quantity per lot& Ma'imum lot size $ma'imum procurement quantity per lot& Rounding value $quantity rounded up to a multiple of this value& Rounding profile $staggered rounding&

In the material master record or in the ()M, you must enter the values for the scrap calculation.

Process Flow
%. The system compares the shortage quantity calculated "ith the parameters of the lot-sizing procedure chosen and so calculates the lot size. *. If you have specified a rounding value or a rounding profile, the system rounds up the lot size and thus calculates the procurement quantity.

Result
The result of the lot-size calculation is the quantity to be produced or procured. ou can display and change the procurement quantity in the procurement proposal.

Lot-Sizing Procedures
Use
+ot-sizing procedures serve to calculate the procurement quantities, that is, the purchase order and production quantities.

ntegration
ou define lot-sizing procedures in !ustomizing for MRP in the IM, activity Check lot-sizing procedure. ou assign the required lot-sizing procedure to the material in the Lot size field in the material master $MRP 1 vie"&.

Features
Three groups of lot-sizing procedures are available .tatic lot-sizing procedures Period lot-sizing procedures )ptimum lot-sizing procedures

ou can also use the short-term and long-term lot size to divide the planning period for the lot-size calculation into a short-term and a long-term area. Therefore, it is also possible to use a different lot-sizing procedure for calculating the lot size in each of these areas. The last lot can be planned e!actly, independent of the selected lot-sizing procedure.
