In the twenty-first century in America, some citizens focus more on buying the newest fashion, rather than focusing on decreasing the abuse of govenrment-funded programs. It is different now than it was in the 1930s and 40s. During those times people worked hard without gaining much, but they continued to srtive to achieve the American Dream. In modern times, people have stopped trying to rely on others, and instead they focus acquiring material things.
