This manual deals with the repair and maintenance of
Borg Warner (BW55) and Aisin Warner (AWSS, 70 and
71) automatic transmissions.

Note that the capanity of the oll pan on a AWSS/BW55

AW70 and 71 four speed transmissions are similar in
‘many respects to the model §5 units. However the valve
body assemblies on the transmissions are different and
are adapted to the wide range of engine types found on,
Volvos. (See page 11 for details.)
