(ACHHK093) Lesson Objectives: By the end of the lesson students will be able to: - Produce a wellresearched mind-map. - Clearly states the reasons for British Colonisation. - Works independently to complete task.

Students must create a bubbl.us mind map which clearly states the reasons for establishment of British colonies in Australia.

Lesson 1 NTRODUCTION: Discuss with the class about their prior knowledge regarding Australian Colonisation. Explain the new topic (Colonisation) and their task for tonight. On our year 5 wiki there are 3 links that will provide information about the reasons for the British colonising Australia. BODY: Students must log on to the computers and begin researching the topic using the links provided. Students must display their information using bubbl.us.com. Screenshot final mind map and save to the students wiki. Bubbl.us Computers with internet access

CONCLUSION: Teacher will bring students down to the map for a de-brief of this particular subject. Students will lead a discussion about the specific reasons they found interesting.

1.2 Learning area outcomes: InformationSequence historical people and events (ACHHS098) Lesson Objectives: By the end of the lesson students will be able to: - Extract critical dates and events from the information collected - Create an online timeline based on the information gathered - Works independently to complete task Students will research important dates and events which they will display in a timeline format using an online tool. BODY: Tell the students using the links provided, you must research the important dates and events that occurred during the colonial period. Students must be selective and choose a maximum of 12 important dates/events. Teacher will go through the timelinemaker.com, using a step by step method to show the correct way of making a timeline online. Students will move back to their computers to complete the research and timeline. CONCLUSION: Students will screenshot their finished timeline and save to wiki. Ensure the teacher has connected a projector screen to demonstrate the timeline making process. Ask the students what they remember about the previous lesson (mind map). Students watch an educational video about the impact colonisation had on the traditional owners of the land. Students write a letter from an Aboriginal perspectives expressing their feelings during the colonial period.

Lesson 3 INTRODUCTION: Recap previous ICT lesson. Students will sit down on the mat and watch the chosen YouTube about the impact of colonisation on the Aboriginal people. BODY: After the students have actively listened to the YouTube clip the teacher will explain the next task. Students are to create a letter which outlines the aboriginal peoples feelings and experiences during the colonial period. Students will complete this task individually. CONCLUSION: Teacher chooses a student to collect everyones draft letters for the teacher to mark and assess. Transition the student to the next lesson.

CONCLUSION: Students will save their prezi. Teacher will bring the students to the mat and discuss the benefits of using prezi to present information. BODY: Ask students to move back to their desks and open up prezi.com and make a free account. Students are to follow the instruction set by the teacher (given on the mat and verbal direction during the class). After each instruction is given students will carry the direction out. Inserts of mind map/timeline and YouTube video must all be included. Students are to present their documents using prezi. Lesson 4 INTRODUCTION: Teacher will bring students down to the made and shows a premade prezi. Teacher explains this will be the final step in exploring the topic. Projector through a computer.
