Part 2: Industry Analysis / Need A. Needs Assessment To plan a successful and unique childcare business, you must first know about the community and who resides in that community. There are many different techniques that can be used as tools to help me assess whether my program is needed. One tool I know is very effective is a community census. This census will gather current data on families and to examine if my business will be helpful and needed. It will identify how many children are living in a home, and if they have two working parents or one. Also if they are living with guardians (grandparents) and if full day childcare is necessary. Online surveys Phone surveys Interview leaders of the community Door-to-door surveys/questions

B. Child Care Trends One major trend in the childcare industry according to our Census Report was the cost of a high quality childcare in a low-income town. Childcare is early education and there are many benefits in the future of children who attend high quality childcare. While quality childcare has a positive benefit on all children, the impact is particularly strong for children in low-income families. Economists have estimated the rate of return for high-quality early intervention to be in the range of 6-10 percent per annum for children in disadvantaged families. Highquality programs provide more benefit and low-quality programs have a greater negative impact (Childcare Aware 2013). Statistics about parents education leading them to use non-parental care as their primary form of childcare. Data for children cared for by a parent followed a different pattern in 2011, partially because a high proportion of mothers with little education reported no regular source of care (Child Trends 2011). My childcare plans to offer a full day program, understanding that we have working parents who may need their child to attend a full program day. My childcare offers a low-budget fee, and will allow parents to set payment arrangements if needed. Making sure the parents are in a comfortable situation is a high priority for us; we want parents to be as happy as their children. We provide developmentally appropriate practices revolving our lesson plans. We work on teaching the 5 components of the whole child, which includes language, social, emotional, physical and cognitive. Land Beyond Childcare

provides a safe, clean, child friendly setting where every child is supervised closely, but at the same time free to learn self discovery and exploration. Land Beyond Childcare impacts children lives positively. We aim for each childs dream to become a reality. We encourage children, to be whomever they want to be and are free to imagine and be creative. This world I am creating for them is a no judging zone, a world where they are not scared to express themselves. Land Beyond Childcare is also very involved in the community and giving back. Once a month we have toy drive where we sell old toys and the money raised goes to the community to help out. I want the children in my childcare to understand the importance of giving back and helping other families in need.
