hi"h I've loved# I !ould only $ res%e"tfully, and as a grateful reader & like to share some thoughts about the book's histori"al a""ura"y, and maybe give some advi"e on small issues I'd "orre"t in future editions, sin"e histori"al ba"kground is so im%ortant in the story# Louanne Baker "ould not %ossibly have landed at 'maha Bea"h !ith the ("reaming )agles (*+,nd -irborne .ivision $ in the novel , and been !ith them !hen they liberated .a"hau# /The ("reaming )agles/ is the ni"kname for the *+*st -irborne .ivision, and they took %art in '%eration 'verlord, but they did not land at 'maha (they !ere %ara"huted else!here and earlier and they did not liberate .a"hau# *+,nd -irborne, then, doesn't e0ist (as an airborne unit # - %ossible easy solution !ould be to substitute the fi"tional *+,nd .ivision !ith the real 12th Infantry .ivision# They landed in 3ran"e in *412, but at .elta Bea"h, "lose to (t# Tro%e5, during '%eration .ragoon# -fter!ards, they !ent on to Germany and liberated .a"hau# They did not have a ni"kname, but a "at"hy motto (-l!ays 3or!ard6 # .a"hau !as liberated also by another 7( unit, 1,nd Infantry .ivision, but their "ombat history !ould make them more diffi"ult to use in the novel (they, for one, landed safely $ !ith no "ombat involved $ in 8arseille after the "ity's liberation # 9lease don't misunderstand me: I really loved the book, but these histori"al in"onsisten"ies !ere $ at least for me, a medium$level military history buff $ so noti"eable (and easily avoidable that they very (very slightly s%oiled the fun# ;est assured that I !ill kee% on !ith my ongoing %roje"t of reading all you've !ritten before summer ends# -nd I'm also a %rofessional literary translator, just in "ase you need another one### Thank you very mu"h for your time and attention, and for your novels# <ith my !armest regards, ;oberto (errai
