Cover Letter My experiences have shaped me into the person I am today.

My experience attending MMSTC has allowed me to realize how much I am capable of accomplishing. ecause of this! I have raised my standards for myself. I used to only do what was expected of me and now I try to surpass that. Some of the pro"ects that helped me to do so include the research pro"ects and the tower pro"ect. These were very time consuming and too# a lot of effort to complete. $cademics are one of these experiences that not only shaped who I am today! but who I will become in the future. $s I progress further in my education! I will expect more out of myself. I have come a long way academically since the beginning of freshmen year. The biggest part of the transition from a normal middle school to MMSTC was the wor#load. I had to learn how to manage my time so I was able to finish my assignments and pro"ects on time. I had to put more effort into my homewor# and studying for tests. %or the first time! I was actually being challenged in school. eing in a class full of people who were the top in Macomb County was a little intimidating at first. It also challenged me to want to do better. &e all used to be the best in the class in middle school and when we were put together we had to compete against each other for the spot. I will continue to challenge myself in the future to be the best I can be. The s#ills I have developed have also shaped me into the person I am. Throughout high school! I have had to give many presentations. They became less scary after I had given a couple of them. 'iving presentations has helped me to feel more comfortable spea#ing in front of people. I have always been a (uiet person and they have helped me come out of my shell a little bit. I put the wor#s into my portfolio that I thought demonstrated my wor# ethic. The research papers show that I am able to come up with a problem as well as ways to solve the problem. The shame essay was a more personal essay that demonstrates some of my views and opinions. )emonstrating academic ability is important! but so it demonstrating values and personality. I have made personal and social development in addition to the s#ills I developed. I have received the )aughters of the $merican *evolution 'ood Citizenship $ward. This award was given based on academics as well as leadership and volunteer activities. I was also a member of the +ational ,onor Society based on the same set of values. -olunteer activities are especially important to me. I often volunteer in a preschool early childhood development class. I also became a mentor for high school students with special needs. I learned a lot from wor#ing with these students. Many of them are not able to accomplish simple daily tas#s. It made me realize how much we ta#e for granted. I am much more appreciative of everything. $ll in all! I have realized many things about myself. I realized that hard wor# really does pay off. $ll of the countless hours I have spent doing homewor# and pro"ects have put me further ahead than most people my age. I have learned that while academics are extremely important! it is also important to be a well rounded person. I have involved myself in things that I en"oy that also help others. I have accomplished a lot and I am proud of it.
