GOALS
- Allow some students to share their information regarding the Jesse Tree
- Teach the students the true meaning behind the 12 Days of Christmas song
- Ensure students have written questions they must answer after they read the information
regarding Advent wreaths and calendars
LESSON OUTCOMES AND INDICATORS
The student/s will:
- Some students will share their work regarding the Jesse tree they were asked to complete at
home
- Students will fill in the table provided with the true meanings behind each of the days of
christmas gifts
- Students will be given the aspects they must reflect on and begin reading the information
provided

LESSON PROCEDURE




1. Prayer - Ask the allocated student to say the prayer followed by the special
intentions

2. Jesse Tree H/W task to Explain why the Jesse Tree is so important in
understanding Christmas: Ask students to open up to their work which they
should have completed at home and for the three students to share their work -
response to the question regarding the Jesse Tree:
Why is it so important? (Possible answers)
- Its important because it is a symbol of growth creation and love
- It represents Jesus genealogy, his ancestry and family tree.
- It reminds us where Jesus has come from


3. Go through the symbols: ??

4. Ask students to open their email and the file:
** Use time to open up the Powerpoint on the projector

5. 12 Days of Christmas Slide Show: Most would know the 12 days of Christmas
song usually referring to very weird gifts and if you arent familiar, you will soon
be with the lyrics and verses.
Slide with history: Read out history of the song.
INSTRUCTIONS: As we go through the song you must fill in the meaning behind
the verse/s in your table.
Go through the powerpoint

Extension (Extension is for students who need more challenge.)

Students who require extra tasks can go back to the 12 days of Christmas song which they had
filled out in their tables and look up the things that they dont know a lot about.
IE What are the beatitudes? What are the Sacraments? What why are the first 5 books of the
Old Testament called the Pentateuch? etc.


Independent Practice (This is for students who need more practice. It can be done without teacher guidance,
perhaps as homework.)

The questions I leave for them to complete regarding the information may be given as
homework.
