TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN RE: JO BRAY I am writing to confirm that Miss Jo Bray completed a teaching internship at Sekolah Pelita Harapan International (Sentul City) from October 28th December 8th, 2013. Jo worked mostly in the Grade 4 classroom within the Primary Years Program (PYP) of the International Baccalaureatte. She was working in an International School context in West Java, Indonesia, dealing with students from diverse national, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds and working with a multi-cultural team of teachers. Jo proved herself to be a conscientous and creative teacher who worked well with her colleagues and students. I have been asked to comment specifically on Jos professional engagement with different parts of our community; students, staff and parents. Based on my personal observations, I can testify to the fact that Jo engaged warmly and professionally with members of our community. She related well to students (who were very sad to see her leave), developing a positive, nurturing relationship with them and recognising their diverse backgrounds and learning needs. Jos interaction with staff was also highly regarded. She was open-minded to new curricula and pedagogical approaches emphasised by the International Baccalaureatte and engaged in staff meetings, professional development and other events in a professional manner. She worked harmoniously with the team of PYP teachers, complementing her mentor-teacher and others with whom she worked. Furthermore, through participation in events like International Day and student chapel, Jo was able to engage with the parent community, once again demonstrating her enthusiasm and sensitivity in the way she engaged with others and communicated. I consider Jos experience working in an international school to be an excellent component of her pre-service teacher training, as it demands that we engage professionally outside our own realm of experience, and perhaps even outside our comfort zone. Jo certainly rose to the challenge and made a superb contribution to our school community in the weeks that she spent here. Jos professional engagement was a credit to her. Yours sincerely,
