A to Z chart



The A to Z chart can be completed in groups or individually. This tool is used to help
learners brainstorm and research words, concepts and terminology associated with a
topic that begins with each different letter of the alphabet. Responses are recorded
next to each corresponding letter. You may wish to allow students to consult
dictionaries, glossaries and other reference materials. EAD/D students might find it
useful to turn their A to Z chart into a bilingual glossary. This activity could be adapted
so that students draw diagrams or pictures to help with their explanation.
