Idioms are fun and very useful, but they can be very confusing.

Todays Idiom Theme:

1. You hit the nail (*right) on the head.
- To be exactly right about something.
- I completely agree with you.

* right adds emphasis to the statement.

For example:
Teacher: What does, You hit the nail on the head mean?
Student: It means that you got something exactly right.
Teacher: Good! You hit the nail right on the head!

2. To give someone a heads up.
- To let someone know something in advance.
- To give someone information ahead of time.

For example:
Just to give you a heads up, were having a fire drill tomorrow.


3. To think of something off the top of ones head.
- To know something without thinking hard.

For example:
Things you can think of off the top of your head are things like:
- your name - your phone number

- your birthday - your girlfriend/boyfriends birthday ;-)

- a new name - a movie title

- a phone number - an actor/actress

To look into means to research about something. If you have to do that, you dont
know it off the top of your head.

Youre giving your friend information ahead of time.

Youre asking if your friend knows the persons phone number.
