LEARNING OBJECTIVE (LO):
To be able to organise information about how Australian values are
represented in a popular song about Australia
TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES
1. 09:45 Mark roll (10mins) settling activity: crossword puzzle of text techniques
Teacher to make the instructions explicit and communicate to students, then after marking roll go through answers
Students to complete activity independently and share their answers after a short time
2. 09:55 Learning objective (5mins)
Teacher to explain learning objective. Students copy down, and annotate where neccessary
3. 10:00 Introduction of new text (35mins)
Teacher to distribute copies of lyrics, then screen music video of down under and go through lyrics. annotate
Students to take down notes from table
4. 10:35 Deconstruct Aus values in the text (20 mins)
Teacher to do table activity on characters in the song and Aus values
Students to offer answers and participate in the construction of the table

ASSESSMENT In this lesson, assess students abilities to take demonstrated information (TEEL sample) and make it their own work
