INTRODUCTION LESSON RESOURCES
Today we will be looking at the representation of Australian values in
the Australian poem Nobody calls me a wog, anymore by Komninos

To be able to organise information about how Australian values are
represented in a poem about identity in Australia
TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES
1. 11:30 Mark roll (10mins) settling activity: rearrange the letters in Australian culture look for the longest word
Teacher to make the instructions explicit and communicate to students, then after marking roll get students to contribute answers
Students to complete activity independently and share their answers after a short time
2. 11:40 Learning objective (5mins)
Teacher to explain learning objective. Students copy down, and annotate where necessary
3. 11:45 Introduction of new text (35mins)
Teacher to distribute copies of poems, then read aloud and lead annotation and discussion
Students to annotate on their copies of the poem
4. 12:15 Deconstruct Aus values in the text (20 mins)
Teacher to lead questions and table activities on characters in the poem and Aus culture and values model question 5
Students to independently answer question 6, then offer answers and participate in the construction of the table

ASSESSMENT In this lesson, assess students abilities to take demonstrated information and make it their own work
