Art and Art History teacher specialising in Photography.
Teaching Subjects
Junior Art Photography Design
Art History Social Studies Travel & Tourism
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is one of always setting high expectations for students and maintaining clear boundaries to ensure
a safe and productive environment. Paramount is the effective communication of passion for my subject (interest comes
before knowledge), the use of technology to aid learning, and the compassion to meet each student where they are,
developing positive relationships with both students, parents and colleagues to achieve positive outcomes. As a teacher I
aim for my communications to always be reasoned, accurate, clear and beneficial. Every element and action within the
classroom should be geared towards effective teaching and learning practices. Achievement with Excellence is always a
goal, and promoting lifelong creativity and learning is the goal.
Associate Teacher Commendation
Paul is an extremely confident, highly organised, and knowledgeable teacher. He initiated and was comfortable managing
sole charge of all of the senior classes, which included lesson planning, demonstrating darkroom processes, formatting
research resources, previewing and leading EOTC and setting the Yr 13 Art History examination. His professional presence
within the department was collegial and considerate without being overbearing and he was able to adjust and revise his
plans and ideas in response to logistical and technical critique. As an expert communicator, Paul was able to converse and
work alongside a range of abilities and age groups. He was consistent, fair and respectful of the students strengths and
always gave positive and insightful feedback to student work. Paul has the specialised skills, commitment and suitability to
excel in this profession and I wish him every success in his teaching career. - Lily Laita (HOD Art, Western Springs College)
