Coryton & Co. is an innovative and entrepreneurial leader in the performing arts industry. Encompassing the Coryton Ensemble, the Coryton Trio, the Coryton Harp Duo, Coryton & Co. is a nationally recognized and touring performance company. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, Coyrton & Co. was founded in 1985. Various ensembles have performed concerts, masterclasses, lectures and young audience programs throughout the United States. In addition to performing the traditional repertoire, Coryton stands behind a commitment to initiate new work. During 1995, six new transcriptions and original compositions were commissioned by Ohio composers. The company supports and presents young artists in the Coryton Young Artist seat, an apprenticeship position that allows talented performers to contribute substantially to concert programs and gain touring experience. Coryton supported by the Ohio Arts Council's Presenting and Touring program since 1985-1997 and a member of Chamber Music America and the Ohio Arts Presenters Network. Company Managing Director, Betsey O'Hagan Merkel was unanimously awarded the the 1995 Ohio Arts Presenters Network Award of Merit for leadership in the arts industry.
