Factors Affecting Teacher Motivation and Job Satisfaction: A Research

Introduction:
In the modern world, teaching is not a vocation or calling; rather it has become a profession and part of
a business enterprise. There has an obvious switch in the past quarter century in treating educational
institutions as business enterprises. Subsequently, the staffs of these enterprises, the teachers, are
treated as paid employees. As, in any business, the matter of staff motivation and employees job
satisfaction is a major concern of the institutes administration and stakeholders. Only if the staff is
motivated, will they perform well and gain required organizational objectives.
This research attempts to identify the factors that influence staff motivation and influence the staff to
give its best to their jobs. This leads to employees feeling satisfied with their jobs and staying with the
organization longer. By employing a number of research methods, this investigation finds out teacher
responses and reactions to their organizations administrative decisions and then analyzes the underlying
implications of these reactions.
It also presents certain recommendations and suggestions as to how an institutes administration can
improve the organizational environment to better suit the needs of the employees.
