Personal and Professional Goals
University of South Florida

As a new, graduate nurse, I have come to realize that I must set up personal goals to help
me achieve success as a Registered Nurse. The field of nursing has and will bring plethora of
opportunities and I must learn how to use them wisely. Setting up these goals will help me stay
on the right track and demonstrate my passion for this career. Listed below are a few short term
and long term goals, that I would like to work on once I become a nurse.
Short term goal:
Join a residency program at the hospital I will be working at.
Become involved with a community service organization that is health related.
Work on a medical- surgical unit for at least 2 years before transferring to an
Emergency Department
Long term goal:
In to 2-3 years continue my education for my masters in nursing.
In 3 to 5 years, become an Emergency Care Nurse.
