I. Course Description
Geometry introduces the student to formal and informal proofs and the
use of inductive and deductive reasoning. Concepts of spatial geometry are
combined with plane geometry throughout the course.
This class consists of discussions, cooperative learning, in class work,
homework, quizzes and tests. Total points are calculated and grades are
assigned using the grading scale found in the Student Handbook. Tests will
account for 60% of the students grade and homework quizzes and assignments
will make up the other 40%.

II. Expectations of Students
1. Homework: I have many different ways of collecting homework, and all may be
used at one point or another (turning in the assignment graded for correctness,
turning in the assignment for completion points, taking a short quiz, board
problems, etc). Unless told otherwise, all assignments require the homework to
be completed by the next school day. Also, unless otherwise stated, each
homework assignment will be awarded 10 points toward the students homework
grade. All homework will be due at the beginning of the next class period unless
specified. I do not accept late work.
My advice to you: my homework assignments will be fairly short. If you need
more practice do it. The more practice you get with the suggested problems, the
better you will do on the assessment. Just like in sports, practice makes perfect.
2. Cheating: Cheating will not be tolerated under any circumstance. Any student(s)
caught cheating will receive a zero on the assignment.
3. Attendance: Students that attend class generally receive higher grades. It is
important for students to be in class every day. Any student that knows of an
absence ahead of time will be expected to come pick up the notes and
assignments prior to missing class. The student will have one extra day for each
day missed to catch up on work.
4. Tardies: All students are expected to be on time and prepared for class. This
means, the student needs to be in his/her seat ready to learn. Any student not in
their seat and ready to learn when the bell rings will receive a tardy. Each student
is allowed three tardies per quarter. The fourth, fifth, and sixth will result in
morning detention. Any additional will result in ISS.
5. Retakes: Students may retake a test as many times as needed to reach a 70%.
Upon that time they may retake the test once more. The highest score will be
kept.

III. Tutoring
I will be available for tutoring every morning from 7:30am until Zero hour/
Early Bird starts and during ACES time in the afternoon. I will also be available
after school every day until at least 3:30.
IV. Cell Phones
Cell phones will not be permitted during learning, tests, and quizzes. If a
student is repeatedly caught using a cell phone during these times, it will be
taken to the office.
Students may use cell phones during homework time for music with one
head phone only or a calculator. There are also times that phones may be used
for research purposes if the student wishes.
If a student is not keeping up with the work or is disrespectful the student
will lose music privileges.
