Description:
Students use geometric thinking to understand mathematical concepts; study properties
and relationships of fgures having to do with size shape and location; and they connect
geometric ideas, relationships and properties to solve problems.

Homewor:
&here will be homework almost every night in $eometry. &his is an opportunity for
students to practice what they have learned in class, and it is very important to their
success in the course. !articipation in class and group acti"ities is also a part of the
daily grade.

class. -lthough a student can get through $eometry with an ine6pensive calculator
containing a s7uare!root button, + highly recommend your family invest in a graphing
calculator %such as the TI-83 or TI-84). 8our child9s success in -lgebra : and higher
math courses at -ustin ,igh and in college will be enhanced with access to, and
personal profciency in, this mathematical tool at home.

are not allowed to be used in class. &hey will be taken up and given to the student9s
assistant principal.
!ro(ects:
-t the beginning of each Si6!=eeks, students may be assigned a pro#ect which is worth a
ma#or test grade. +t is their sole responsibility to work on the pro#ects throughout each
Si6!=eek9s (eriod on their own time. >ery little, if any, class time will be allotted to work
on the pro#ects.
#utoring:
&utoring will be available before school &uesdays ? &hursdays from @500am ? @5*Aam, or
by appointment. &utoring is a good time to get additional help on assignments, to make
up 7uizzes, or retake tests.
