RE: Survey of Arkansas Registered Voters

Opinion Research Associates, Inc., conducted a survey of 414 Arkansas registered voters,
August 6-14, 2014. The margin of error for the total sample is 4.9 percentage points at
the 95% level of confidence, meaning that percentages calculated on a sample of 414
cases could be expected to vary, as a consequence of random variation, by no more that
4.9 points from the true population percentages in 19 out of 20 samples taken.
Interviews were conducted by live interviewers from ORAs central location in Little
Rock.
In the general election race for the U.S. Senate in November, Senator Mark Pryor, the
Democrat, leads Congressman Tom Cotton, the Republican, 46% to 41%, with Nathan
LaFrance, the Libertarian and Mark Swaney of the Green Party tied at 2% each, and 9%
undecided. The 5% Pryor lead is within the polls margin of error.
Pryor leads Cotton in name recognition, 93% to 86%, and in favorable ratings, 46% to
36%. The two candidates are virtually tied in unfavorable ratings with 44% unfavorable
for Cotton and 41% for Pryor.
In the general election race for governor, Asa Hutchinson, the Republican, and Mike
Ross, the Democrat, are tied at 44% each, with Josh Drake of the Green Party at 2%,
Frank Gilbert, the Libertarian at 1%, and 9% undecided.
Hutchinson leads Ross in name recognition, 88% to 77%. While the two are virtually
tied in favorable ratings (50% for Ross; 48% for Hutchinson), Hutchinson has a higher
unfavorable rating than does Ross (35% for Hutchinson; 22% for Ross).
