1} INTRODUCTION.
2} CAUSES OF DEFORESTATION.
3} EFFCTS OF DEFORESTATION.
4} REMEDIAL MEASURES.
DEFORESTATION:- IN SIMPLE
LANGUAGE, IT CAN BE DEFINED
AS CUTTING OF TREE’S OR
FOREST FOR VARIOUS PURPOSES.
SATELLITE SNAP OF
DEFORESTATION…
Environmental issues effect every life on this planet
from the smallest parasite to the human race. The
reason for this is simple. A single disruption in the
Earth’s delicate balance can mean certain destruction
of the very place that cradles the lives of many species.
What is not so simple is finding alternatives to the now
dangerous and confronting acts of planet degradation
that have been afflicted on the planet over recent
years. One such issue that requires consideration is
deforestation. Trees have been or are being cut down
at increasingly high rates. If this is not stopped many
unfavorable side effects could result……..
DEFORESTATION IS ON OF THE MAIN
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE…..
SOME OF THE MAIN CAUSES
OF DEFORESTATION ARE :-
1}POPULATION GROWTH
 DUE TO
EVERINCREASING
POPULATION ,
FOREST ARE CUT
ON LARGE SCALE .
 FOREST ARE
MAINLY
CUT FOR :-
A) BUILDING HOUSES
 FOR SETTLEMENT
OF THIS
OVERGROWING
POPULATION
FOREST AREA’S
ARE CLEARED.
 NOW-A-DAYS
THERE IS CEMENT
FOREST EVERY
WHERE…
B) CONSTUCTION OF DAMS
 TO MEET THE NEED
OF WATER , FOREST
ARE CUT FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF
DAMS.
 FOR THIS LARGE
AREAS FOREST ARE
CLEARED AND
AFTER THAT THERE
IS CONSTRUCTION
OF DAMS.
C} DEFOREATSTATION FOR
PAPER
 PAPER IS PREPARED
FROM TREES…i.e.
FROM FOREST.
 BUT TODAY WE
WASTE PAPER , BY
THROWING OR
BURNING IT.
 INSTEAD OF THIS IT
CAN BE RECYCLED.
D} DEFORESTATION FOR
WOOD MAKING ARTICLES
 FOR MAKING VARIOUS
WOOD ARTICES FOREST
ARE CUT DOWN FOR
OBTAINING WOOD.
 EG. FOR PREAPARING
BENCHES IN SCHOOLS,
COLLEGES, DOORS ,
TABLES , IN
CONSTRUCTION OF
BUILDINGS , ETC.
2} DEFORESTATION FOR
FARMING
 TO MEET THE
FOOD NECESITY
DUE TO
POPULATION
EXPLOSION LARGE
AREAS OF FOREST
ARE CONVERTED
INTO FARMS.
3} DEFORESTATION FOR
FUELS
 IN DEVELOPING
COUNTRY LIKE
INDIA WOOD IS
USED AS THE MAIN
FUEL .
4} NATURAL CAUSE
 DUE TO
CYCLONES ,
EATHQUAKE ,
TSUNAMIS LARGE
NUMBER OF TREES
GETS UPROOTED.
1} EFFECT ON BIO-
DIVERSITY
• The WORLD WILDLIFE FUND
(WWF) defines biodiversity as "the
wealth of life on Earth, the millions
of plants, animals, and micro-
organisms, the genes they contain
and the intricate ecosystems they
build into the living environment."
Rainforest are one of the most
biologically diverse regions of the
world. Over a millions species of
plants and animals are known to
live in the forests and millions
more are not classified. The
unique environment of the
rainforest allows for such
biodiversity to exist.
• The process of deforestation in
various geographical regions is
destroying this unique
environment. Consequently, many
animals and plants that live in the
rainforests face the specter of
extinction. The extinction of the
plants and animals leads to
diminished gene pool. The lack of
biodiversity and a reduced
planetary gene pool could have
many unforeseen ramifications,
some of which could be fatal to
the future of humanity.
• Due to this many species of plants
and animals are on the verge of
extinction.
2} CLIMATE CHANGE
• DUE TO FOREST
ARE DESTROYED
ON LARGE SCALE
FOLLOWING
EFFECTS ON
CLIMATE CHANGE
TAKES PLACE:-
• Desiccation of previously moist
forest soil.
• Dramatic Increase in
Temperature Extremes .
• Moist Humid Region Changes
to Desert .
• No Recycling of Water.
• Less Carbon Dioxide and
Nitrogen Exchange .
• More Desertification .
• UNEVEN RAINFALL .
• DUE TO THIS
CROPS PATTERN
GETS DISTRUBED .
3} GLOBAL WARMING
• DUE TO
DEFORESTATION ,
THERE IS INCREASE
OF CARBON-DI-OXIDE
GAS IN ATMOSPHERE .
• AS A RESULT , GREEN
HOUSE EFFFECT AND
THUS ,GLOBAL
WARMING .
• THERE ARE MANY
HAZARDOUS EFFECTS
OF GLOBAL WARMING .
• LIKE MELTING OF
GLACIERS AND THUS
INCREASE IN SEA
LEVEL , TEMPERATURE
RISE ETC.
Effects Of
Deforestation………
• FIRST STEP TO
PREVENT
DEFORESTATION , IS
NOT TO CUT FOREST.
• INSTEAD OF USING
PAPER MADE FROM
WOOD , WE SHOULD
USE PAPER MADE
FROM OTHER ECO-
FRIENDLY MATERIALS.
• INSTEAD OF USING
WOOD AS FUEL , WE
SHOULD USE OTHER
SOFISTICATED FUELS .
